I am setting up a new PC and could not remember how to disable trillian from notifying me when a new email comes.
For Trillian Basic 3.1 build 121: Trillian\TrillianPreferences... menu.
Advanced Preferences
Automation
Uncheck Mail: New Mail

Thank you. This seems to also be the case for Trillian Astra, which is now in public beta. It appears to be a Pro option, however. :(
I took a look and the box was already unchecked. I just got this beta version because we're having problems other IMs. Is there anything else I can check in Trillian to turn off the email notifications? It's not a showstopper but a bit annoying.
1. Open Trillian.
2. From the Trillian menu, choose Connections, then Manage my Connections.
3. On the left, choose Identities & Connections.
4. Click on the account whose email you want to disable.
5. Click the Change button.
6. Click the Miscellaneous tab.
7. Clear the Display unread mail notifications, if server supports it checkbox.
8. Click Save Settings, then Close.
You should be good to go.

This worked with the version 5 as well and this has been driving me crazy. Specifically if in meetings, i had to exit Trillian to avoid these annoying notifications.
